The forced consolidation of two sizable CMJ showcases-- which, in this case, created a bill overstuffed with rap acts tailored to the online crowd-- would usually imply mayhem. But maybe mayhem is a thing of the past at CMJ. Go to 285 Kent's graffiti- and smoke-soiled space on most non-CMJ weekends and you'll probably find something much rowdier than last night's event, at which the performers and crowd seemed to loll together for hours on end.
